After Patna Pirates’ loss against U Mumba, Pardeep Narwal has said that he was not happy with his own performance in the game.  Patna’s coach Ram Mehar Singh has added that the team had a poor evening in both the departments of the game and that was a reason behind their defeat against Mumba.

U Mumba qualified for the playoffs after beating Patna 30-26 last evening. They managed to restrict Patna skipper Pardeep Narwal from getting to a big score which helped Mumba win the game by four points towards the end. Pardeep managed to score only eight points against a strong Mumba defence and in the post-match press conference, he spoke about that.

“I am a bit upset with my own performance. We did well towards the end of the first half and cut the deficit to just four but then let the game slip away in the second half,” Pardeep said after the defeat against Mumba.

Patna had another off day last evening, however, the match was much closer as compared to many of their previous games in the season. Patna’s chief coach Ram Mehar Singh blamed their defenders for the poor show again in season 7.

“We made some mistakes in attack and in defence. We had the game in our grasp, however, the Super Tackle on Pardeep followed by some loose defending gave them the lead. Later when we reduced them to three, Mohammad Esmaeil was tackled. So, we had the chance to win the game, but we couldn’t grab the opportunities when they were presented to us,” explained the Patna coach.

“Earlier in the season, the offence struggled, but in the last 3-4 matches since (Jang Kun) Lee’s return, the raiding unit has done its job. The defence, however, has been lackluster, even in the past few matches where the offence has done well.”
