UP Yoddha skipper has said that they need to carry on with this momentum as they look forward to the playoff matches next week. UP Yoddha won against Puneri Paltan and have now won both their home matches so they also have a two-match winning streak at home which they would hope to continue.

Starting well helped UP Yoddha win the last evening’s match as their 15-point lead was left to just four points by the end of the match. Both their departments did well and because of that, they were able to inflict two all-outs in the first half itself. They even saw a new player rise as an all-rounder in the form of Sachin Kumar who scored two raid and three tackle points. UP Yoddha are left with two matches before the playoffs and might try their bench strength so that they can rest the main players.

“The team has been playing well and I'm feeding off that. The coach's strategy has been on point and is the real reason why the team and I are playing well. So, we need to continue in the same vein,” Skipper Nitesh Kumar said in the post-match press conference.

Puneri Paltan was playing their last match and despite their best efforts, they lost the game. Though their comeback was nothing short of brilliant as at one point they even managed to level the scores but Rishank Devadiga’s bonus plus touch point, when there were three minutes left on the clock, tipped the scales in the UP’s favour. Their defence has faced similar problems in the past and today also that cost them the game.

“I think Rishank Devadiga's two-point raid was the big turning point of the contest. Had we tackled him even while giving away the bonus, we would have been in the driver’s seat. Obviously having to venture deep against a defence of four is extremely tough, especially when you are trailing by two and there’s not much time left on the clock,” Puneri Paltan skipper Surjeet Singh concluded.
