Puneri Paltan skipper Surjeet Singh has mentioned that it was an important win against the Bulls as Pune's last match had ended in a tie and they only managed to get three points. They won the match against the defending champions by 42-38 with the help of some strong individual performances.

Puneri Paltan was able to replicate the results of their first meeting against Bengaluru Bulls last night as well. They won by four points as both their departments performed well. Even though Pune scored only 18 points in raiding department as compared to Bengaluru’s 29 but the difference was covered well in the defence with skipper Surjeet Singh leading from the front at the right cover position.

“This win was extremely important given that our last game finished in a tie. Capping off the home leg with a victory will give us momentum heading into the final phase of the season,” Surjeet said in the post-match press conference.

Sagar Krishna scored seven tackle points and he was supported by Surjeet who finished the match with six tackle points. Even though Surjeet managed to keep Pawan quiet in the first half, he wasn’t able to stop him from yet another super 10 this season. Though that didn’t help the team much as it was too late by then. Krishna executed three super tackles where he ousted Rohit twice and Pawan once. Pune’s exceptional performance in defence at crucial moments helped them get the better of the defending champions.

“The raiders ended up giving up three Super Tackles when we were on top in the contest. But the defence definitely had a poor outing. As a unit, we seemingly only played to avoid the touch instead of trying to tackle the raiders. It wasn’t the most astute performance,” Pawan was quoted as saying by the PKL website.
