Steve Smith had asked Ajinkya Rahane if the players could have a drink together at the end of the final Test in Dharamsala, and although Rahane didn’t get back on it to the Aussie skipper, he has now revealed that he was busy celebrating with his own mates after the 2-1 series victory.

A lot has been said about Rahane refusing to have a drink with the Australian players at the end of the fiercely contested Test series.

“We had our own celebrations together in our dressing rooms and I was busy there. I enjoyed the moment with my team," the Indian Express quoted Rahane as saying. "It was a well-fought series and we all played good cricket. Credit goes to the both the teams. But I believe in staying with the present. My focus is on the IPL now.”

Smith and Rahane are part of the Pune franchise. "I asked if he wanted us to come in for a drink being at the end of the series. He said he’d get back to me. With Ajinkya, we get on well. He’s in my IPL team so I’ll be with him for the next few weeks,” Pune skipper Smith said.

It’s believed to be a part of the Australian culture to have a beer with rival players at the end of a series.
