According to reports, the Indian selectors were scheduled to select the team for the upcoming tour of South Africa on Monday but a flight delay resulted in the decision being postponed. The selectors did, however, announce the team for the upcoming ODI home series against Sri Lanka yesterday.

According to a report in Cricinfo, MSK Prasad, Devang Gandhi, Sarandeep Singh, and Virat Kohli were scheduled to have a meeting in Nagpur to finalize the team that would be travelling to South Africa for the two-month long tour. While the quartet were ready for the meet, BCCI selection panel convenor Amitabh Choudhury was grounded in Mumbai due to a flight delay.

With a long tour on the cards and multiple players in form, this is going to be one the most difficult decisions that the selection committee has had to make in a long time. It is expected that the Indian squad will have 16-18 players who will be travelling to the African country.

Even though the squad for the overseas tour was not finalized on Monday, the committee did announce the squad for the ODI series against the Lanka that is scheduled to start on December 10.

The biggest surprise was the selection of Siddarth Kaul in the squad while the rest given to Virat Kohli came as an expected piece of news.
