VIDEO | Magnificent MS Dhoni jumps across stumps to run James Vince out in typical style

There is a reason MS Dhoni enjoys the trust of his skipper and management and it is not always for his batting credentials. His presence behind the stumps has been a huge confidence booster for the team and that was on show today as he quickly ran James Vince out in his typical style.

England got off to a good start with the bat as James Vince and Jonny Bairstow easily scored runs against the Indian pacers before Shardul Thakur dismissed the latter for 30. The introduction of the spinners was going to be an important juncture in the game and when Chahal was introduced, as expected, he got the ball to turn away from the right-handed batsmen.

On the first ball of the 10th over, Joe Root tucked the ball on the leg-side in the hopes of taking a very risky single. Hardik Pandya was quick on his feet but he failed to throw the ball properly from mid-wicket. Had there been any other wicketkeeper behind the stumps the chance would have been lost but, India still had a chance due to MS Dhoni’s presence at the business end. And living up to the expectations, Dhoni immediately flung himself in front of the stumps, collected the ball with his right hand and whipped off the bails - all in one motion. After the decision was referred to the third umpire, the replays showed what a great piece of work it was.

It was a classic Dhoni manoeuvre and one that has enough ingredient to make someone speechless. What a keeper!
