IPL 2018 | Virat Kohli reveals that AB de Villiers was confident about RCB's victory

In a do-or-die clash against Delhi Daredevils on Saturday (May 12), Royal Challengers Bangalore were Chasing 182 for a win, but struck with an early blow as both the openers Parthiv Patel and Moeen Ali departed early. However, Kohli displayed his class with a 40-ball 70 alongside de Villiers to build a 118-run stand for the third wicket, which more or less sealed the match for RCB. De Villiers, who scored an unbeaten 72 off 37 balls ensured the visitors cross the line with 6 balls to spare.

After the thumping win, Kohli showered words of praise for his teammate and revealed that after the first innings de Villiers came to him and confidently said that we can win this match.  

“I wasn't happy with the way we finished with the ball, but AB told me in the innings break that we can do this and that is what helped me get into the zone and then I let my instincts take over,” Kohli said in his interview. 

Virat Kohli is someone who has always praised the class of de Villiers and reckoned him as the best batsman of his era. Yesterday he reiterated his admiration for AB by stating that it was an honor for him to bat alongside the South African.

“It's an honor for me to bat with AB,” remarked Kohli.

The much needed win has kept RCB in contention for a top-four finish for the playoffs. Kohli expressed his happiness over the win and described how necessary was it to get their campaign back in the tournament. 

"The table is wide open. A good night. It is the right time to get a win for us,” said Kohli.

Delhi boy Kohli, who has never played for Delhi Daredevils in his whole IPL career, was enthralled with the support they got from crowds and thanked them wholeheartedly. The 29-year-old also mentioned that they would prefer bowling first going forward so that the batting department would take more responsibility.

“Surprising to see so much support for us in Delhi. Again not a clinical show with the ball. At this stage of the tournament, maybe we will prefer bowling first because the batsmen can take more responsibility. Ask the opposition team to get the runs and tell them we are coming to chase it down," he concluded.
