VIDEO | Ish Sodhi gets out in the most bizarre way possible
A sport as historic as cricket has definitely seen numerous such incidents that had once seemed unimaginable to a sane mind. However, they have still happened and the latest such instance took place in KKR’s game against RR, where Ish Sodhi gave away his catch after the low ball hit his bat and toe.
The way Rajasthan Royals started off the match at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday, the comeback side looked to pose yet another massive target in KKR’s way. However, after the initial storm by Rahul Tripathi and Jos Buttler that saw an opening stand of 63 runs in just five overs, Royals saw themselves crumbling like a pack of cards.
Buttler has been the only heart beating for the entire side and after the English hitman left the crease in the tenth over, leaving the side at a comfortable 85/2, the rest of the side failed to carry the momentum. By the 11th over, Royals were struggling at 107/7 with the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Sanju Samson, Krishnappa Gowtham, all returned to the pavilion.
The incident took place in the 17th over when an in-form Jaydev Unadkat and Ish Sodhi were at the crease. RR had stabled a bit with the scoreline reading 128/7, but the batsmen needed to keep swinging. And Sodhi was looking to do exactly that when he went after a yorker-ish delivery by Prasidh Krisha.
The ball had popped up after hitting Sodhi’s leg with an urgent looking Karthik caught it without any mistake. After an initial ‘not out’ decision by the umpire, Karthik was seen trying to bring it to the leg umpire’s notice, who was in a better position to get a proper view and eventually convinces his partner to go upstairs. Replays showed Sodhi having an inside edge to his back boot, which then bounces off his back pad to go into Karthik’s hands.
