VIDEO | Fiery Jasprit Bumrah intimidates umpire to raise finger in 'Review less' India's favour
Luck at times plays a very vital role in life and cricket is no different. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah literally screamed, danced, and pleaded his way to force umpire Joel Wilson in raising the finger in order to send English skipper Joe Root back into the pavilion on the first day at Oval.
The Englishmen were off to a good start as their batsmen dominated the first two sessions of play after opting to bat first. At the end of the 63rd over, the hosts were in a comfortable position with the scorecard reading 133/1 after Tea, but things changed to being worst all of a sudden.
Bumrah first knocked out Alastair Cook in the 64th over and what followed it was something very rarely seen in everyday cricket. The Gujarat pacer, who was otherwise bowling from round the wicket, had changed his angle and came from over the stumps with Root coming in at the strike. New at the crease, the English captain was wrapped on the pads and the Indians were up on their feet with a huge appeal.
With India losing both their reviews cheaply they knew that their only chance now was to convince the umpire at the first go. And Bumrah did exactly that, as he shouted and literally pleaded to umpire Wilson who looked intimidated before going on to raise his finger. Root consulted with his partner Moeen Ali and took a review, which was obvious given Bumrah had already wasted India a review earlier in the day. However, the ball-tracker showed that the ball went on to crash into the leg stump and Wilson was seen raising the finger again.
