All-rounder Vijay Shankar and batsman Shubham Gill have been called upon to replace the suspended duo of Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul into the Indian team. While Shankar will take part in the ongoing ODI series against Australia, Gill has been called in only for NewZealand series.

The replacements for the suspended duo of Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul have been announced in all-rounder Vijay Shakar and Shubman Gill. While Shakar will become a part of the team immediately before the start of the second ODI against Australia, Gill has only been included for the ODI and T20 series against NewZealand.

Earlier Pandya and Rahul, who were in Australia, were recalled in order to conduct an enquiry into the duo’s comments made on a chat show. They were also even a show-cause notice as to why any action should not be initiated against them under Rule 41 of the BCCI Constitution.

While Gill is yet to make his debut into the Indian side, he has a fair bit of experience of playing in NewZealand as he had travelled to the country with the Indian side for the Under-19 World Cup last year. As for Shankar, he has already played five T20 matches for the Indian team and is seen as a backup genuine all-rounder in absence of Pandya.
