Landing in the city on Friday, MS Dhoni didn’t take a lot of time to pad up and get his hands dirty as he was smashing the ball at the nets on the very next evening. The defending champions also released pictures of the coaching staff deeply involved in getting things right with the pace bowlers.

While half of the country has been busy contemplating if Rishabh Pant could be a worthy successor to MS Dhoni as the other half fret about life of Indian cricket after the “Thala” is gone, the Chennai Super Kings skipper seen was calmly smashing monstrous sixes out of the park during the net sessions in Chepauk.

After missing the last two ODIs against Australia, which India lost to eventually lose the five-match ODI series, Dhoni’s ODI practice would very much rely on the two-month long domestic T20 tournament. However, given how sweetly he has been connecting the ball, it shouldn’t worry the Indian fans.

CSK’s Twitter handle spotted most of the Indian stars in the practice session in the likes of Suresh Raina, Mohit Sharma, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, the highly celebrated foreign stars would be landing on Sunday evening. A warm up match has also been scheduled on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m, as it was the case last year, as a portion of the stadium has been open to the fans.

After equalling a record third title instantly after returning to the scheme of things in IPL following a two-year ban owing to spot-fixing allegations, CSK would be starting their title defence on a winning note in front of their massive home fans against Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 23.
