Twitter reacts as fan breaches security and 'spears' Rohit Sharma in attempt to touch his feet

Cricket in India is seen as a religion and players are generally treated like Gods, literally. Fans have invaded grounds to get a glimpse of their favorite stars and Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni, in particular, have been mobbed by fans, thanks to their enormous popularity. And in one such occurrence today, Rohit Sharma was on the receiving end, as an over-excited fan breached security to touch his feet, probably to “get his blessings”.

However, Rohit looked particularly taken aback by the fan’s gesture, as he fell to the ground as the fan tried to touch his feet. With Rohit falling on his feet, it almost gave away the impression that the fan “speared” Rohit. While the Indian players saw the funny side of it, one person who was unimpressed with it was Sunil Gavaskar, who, on-air, lashed out at the security personnel for letting it happen. The people on the internet, too, were divided as while some saw the funny side of it, the rest considered it scary and unsafe.
