The Rajasthan Royals extend their dominant run in the 2024 Indian Premier League by shadowing Lucknow Super Giants by seven wickets and an over to spare. Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel’s fantastic fifties eclipsed Kl Rahul and Deepak Hooda’s half-centuries in Ekana Stadium, Lucknow.

Winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson did not hesitate to bowl first. Trent Boult and Sandeep Sharma beautifully operated with the new ball, cleaning up Quinton de Kock and Marcus Stoinis in the first and second over respectively. Subsequently, Deepak Hooda and KL Rahul soaked the pressure, adding to a 46-run powerplay. However, they switched gears to stitch a 115-run stand before Ashwin outsmarted Hooda for 31-ball 50 in the 13th over. With Nicholas Pooran making his entry at No. 5, the runs came thick and fast for LSG with the score reading 156/4 and Rahul on 73*. Right after, Sandeep removed Pooran while Rahul followed suit 13 balls time, with RR conceding 40 runs in the last five overs to curb LSG to 196 in 20 overs. 

In response, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal offered a quick start to the Royals before the two departed in a space of two deliveries around a 60-run powerplay off Yash Thakur and Marcus Stoinis. In quick time, impact sub-Amit Mishra baited Riyan Parag in the ninth over leading up to a RR scorecard displaying 81/3 in ten overs. However, Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel ruled out any pressure to rack 63 runs in the next five overs. Subsequently. Ravi Bishnoi was asked to bowl his first over in the 16th over, conceding 16 runs, followed by 26 runs in the next couple of overs. With eleven required off the last couple of overs, Samson and Jurel’s fifties sealed the deal with the captain finishing it off with a six and an over to spare.
