Men's Hundred | Twitter and Stokes in awe as Jamie Overton smacks 107-metre biggie after monstrous six

The rapid evolution of cricket in shorter formats demands a rigorous ability of range hitting. Manchester Originals’ Jamie Overton took the requirement seriously as he showcased insane ball-striking ability by producing a couple of lusty blows against the Northern Superchargers in Old Trafford.

Winning the toss and electing to field first did not pan out fruitful results for the Superchargers as the top three of Manchester belted 73 runs inside the powerplay. However, the introduction of spin pegged back at the hosts before a couple of sixes from Jamie Overton left the opposition skipper wowed and turned the tables upside down in favour of the home side.

Overton’s score read four off 15 balls before a four and a six brought down his strike rate to decent numbers. The 90th ball of the innings saw Pattrick Brown bowl a fuller delivery in the slot outside the stumps. Overton sat deep in the crease and walloped it straight down the ground for a 97-metre hit with the ball launched into the second tier. He didn’t just stop there as the penultimate delivery was clubbed across the line for over long on for the same outcome. However, the distance on the fuller delivery read 107-metre, assisting the Originals to inch around the 150-run mark. While Stokes was wowed by the first six from Overton, the second one was even bigger, leaving the Twitterverse abuzz.
