PAK vs IRE | Twitter chants 'typical Pakistan' after collision leaves Shaheen and Usman wincing in pain

There are only three constants in life -- death, taxes, and Pakistan producing iconic bloopers on the field with shambolic fielding efforts. Sunday in Florida was no different as Shaheen Afridi and Usman Khan were left prone on the ground after clashing into each other while attempting a catch.

Pakistan made light work of Ireland with the ball in their farewell T20 World Cup 2024 encounter to restrict their European rivals to a paltry XXX in their 20 overs. Shaheen Afridi and Imad Wasim led the charge with three scalps each but the former nearly denied the latter a much-deserved scalp with an addition to Pakistan cricket's ever-expanding list of hilarious mishaps on the field.

Midway through the 14th over, Mark Adair tried to launch the left-arm spinner over cow corner but failed to get enough of the ball as it hung high in the air for a while. Shaheen Afridi and Usman Khan converged on the Kookaburra from long-on and midwicket with their eyes fixated on the quickly descending white rock. However, the laser-sharp focus of the duo meant neither cared to call for the catch and as the bird-eye camera captured the incident, a collision was simply inevitable. Eventually, Shaheen somehow managed to cling onto the ball, even as Usman charged into him to send both tumbling onto the ground and holding their heads in pain. Even as Mark walked off the pitch, Usman remained lying prone while the physios were called on to attend to the situation.

Twitterati could not help but make fun of the absurd showcase of fielding by the Men in Green and flooded social media with their memes.
