BAN vs AFG | Twitter reacts to Litton imitating Gulbadin's Oscar-worthy injury fake upon Trott's instructions

500 years ago William Shakespeare espoused the world's a stage and Gulbadin Naib isn't one to refute the great man's wisdom. The Afghan blatantly faked an injury in the must-win encounter against Bangladesh, in hopes of a rain interruption, and Litton Das wasted no time in calling out his antics.

‌Afghanistan and Bangladesh kept trading blows in an enthralling final Super Eights group stage encounter with recurring showers of rain only adding to the drama. Batting first, the Afghans managed a subpar 115/5 but the Tigers' hunt for a net run rate boost meant wickets fell in clusters. Midway through the 12th over, the score had whittled down to 81/7 and for the first time in a while, Afghanistan found themselves marginally ahead of the DLS par score. On cue, the heavens opened up once again and their wily head coach Jonathan Trott immediately signalled his players to slow the game down to increase the possibility of play being stopped. What followed was equal parts comedy and animosity.

Veteran Gulbadin Naib responded to his coach's instructions by suddenly collapsing to the ground at first slip while clutching his hamstring. However, his skipper Rashid Khan was having none of it, as he furiously pointed at his teammate and instructed him to get on with play. Gulbadin though had committed to the act and to his fortune, the strategy worked as the covers were brought on. Meanwhile, Litton Das had been taking note of all that was going on around him and while walking off re-enacted Gualbdin's obvious injury-fake to Mohammad Nabi while laughing out loud. The cameras panning to Gulbadin limping off added further comic value to the incident which was further compounded by the all-rounder sprinting around on the field when play resumed.

Twitterati tried to make sense of things in the only way they know how.

LOL! This is hilarious stuff!

Oscar is waiting!

Please give him better award this time!

Hahaha!

Expect the unexpected!

There's Rain Gods, Rain & then there's Gulbadin.

Epic!

He is a living Legend now!

Hilarioussssss!

This is ridiculous from Trott!
