Opportunities don’t come knocking at the door again and again but it was a rare case when Rilee Rossouw got a second chance in Dharamsala on Thursday. Despite dropping Virat Kohli on ten, the Proteas ended up redeeming himself with a great catch as the Indian star fell short of a ton by eight runs.

Despite incurring early setbacks in the powerplay, a 66-run third-wicket stand between Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar stabilized the ship before the former accelerated following a rain interruption. A four and a six off Arshdeep Singh in the 18th over steered Kohli past the nineties before Rossouw redeemed himself for dropping the 35-year-old while he was on ten.

On the fourth ball of the 18th over, Arshdeep Singh came over the wicket and bowled a low full-toss wide outside the stumps. Kohli tried to stretch at it and flay it towards the off side but ended up generating less power. Eventually, the ball traveled towards deep point where Rossouw leaned forward to grasp the ball firmly, thereby leaving Kohli short of a second century in the season by eight runs. While the Twitterverse applauded the mastermind knock from the former RCB leader, they also exploded on Rossouw holding onto the second chance.
