Cricket is a game of uncertainty and minute moments in the game can dictate the outcome of a match. A similar took center stage in the Chinnaswamy stadium on Saturday between RCB and CSK as Mitchell Santner produced a moment of brilliance in the field to dismiss a well-settled Faf du Plessis.

Winning the toss and electing to field first backfired against Chennai Super Kings as RCB openers Faf and Virat Kohli chalked up a 78-run partnership before the latter fell in the tenth over. Subsequently, the RCB skipper tried to switch gears and raced to a 35-ball 50 by taking down Ravindra Jadeja. As the Proteas looked well settled to convert it into a big score, Santner’s acrobatic bowling effort ended up in Faf’s unfortunate run-out dismissal.

On the last ball of the 13th over, Santner bowled a fuller one at the stumps that Rajat Patidar drilled back down the line. The Kiwi attempted to stop the rebounding white cherry but ended up with a faint edge back to the stumps. Simultaneously, Faf at the non-striker’s end was out of the crease and tried to make home before the ball hit the stumps. As the on-field umpires summoned the TV umpire Michael Gough’s verdict, it was evident that the batter was marginally short of the crease with his bat in the air and Ultraedge showed a spike as the ball swirled through Santner’s finger. Despite checking various angles and zoomed-in technology, the decision of out did not go well with Faf and the RCB dugout, prompting the Twitterverse into a frenzy.

Moment of Magic!

What a decison!

Unfortunate
