And this decision didn't work in the favour of Mumbai Indians. Virat Kohli and Phil Salt dominated them from the start, following which Rajat Patidar and Tim David dominated in the death overs. It became challenging for any bowler to stop the wrath of the RCB batsmen. Eventually, the team posted 240 runs on the board, as Rajat Patidar, Virat Kohli, and Phil Salt posted fifties.

The start of the chase was not good for Mumbai Indians, as Rohit Sharma retired hurt. Tilak Varma also lost his wicket early, but Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya kept the game alive. Suyash Sharma and Jacob Duffy took their wickets, putting the game in RCB's hands. Despite a good effort by Sherfane Rutherford in the end, RCB won the game by 18 runs.
