Steve Smith has been in stunning form in the BBL, and he continued to sizzle in the Qualifier against Perth Scorchers on Tuesday. The Sydney Sixers batter welcomed Brody Couch into the attack with an unbelievable pick-up shot for six over fine leg during the chase at Perth Stadium.

‌Sydney Sixers did a wonderful job of restricting hosts Perth Scorchers after Finn Allen’s initial exploits put them on the backfoot at the Perth Stadium on Tuesday. After being put into bat in the Big Bash League Qualifier, the Kiwi batter hit a 30-ball 49 to put his side on the ascendancy, but his dismissal reduced the Scorchers to 101/6 from a comfortable-looking 67/1.

But some resistance from the lower middle order and a handy 44-run stand between skipper Ashton Turner and Jhye Richardson helped the side to a respectable 147/9 in their allotted 20 overs. However, the chase started disastrously for the Sixers, as they lost their first three wickets inside four overs with the score reading just 23.

But Steve Smith, who has been in stunning form with a century and a fifty in his last two BBL games, was still there. After starting his innings with a first-ball six, he was deprived strike as he saw the Sixers innings unravel.

But he remained unperturbed as he played his shots before pulling off an unbelievable pick-up shot in Brody Couch’s first over. As the bowler tried to cramp Smith for room, bowling a short of a length delivery targeting his body, Smith showed great anticipation as he moved across the pitch to pummel the ball over fine leg.

He played an innovative pull shot that resembled a half-scoop as he cleverly used the pace of the bowler to derive maximum output. The bowler was stunned as Smith continued his majestic touch in the tournament yet again. Twitter was in awe as Smith auditioned for a place in the upcoming IPL with a breathtaking hit.
