Shreyas Iyer’s Sister Speaks Out Against Online Abuse
Shreyas Iyer's sister still remains in the headlines even after PBKS has been knocked out of the tournament. A few weeks back, she posted a reel when the clash against KKR was washed out. But since then, she has been receiving constant hatred from the fans, which has been called out lately.
While Punjab Kings have been knocked out of the tournament, the team still continues to make it to the headlines. When they faced KKR, the match was washed out, preventing the team from getting another win when they were at their best. If we look at that wash out game now, that one point did have an impact on the team's qualification.
After that match, Shreyas Iyer's sister, Shresta Iyer, posted a reel saying that they're good enough to hand one free point. She received a lot of hatred after posting the reel, and eventually had to remove the same from her account. Following this, she addressed the concern at that time but the hatred did not stop.

So, she decided to post not one but two reels on this topic, where she talked about the constant hatred she has received for that reel. She said, “The video that I had created earlier, you guys exaggerated it to extremes, when the motive of the reel was just a fun banter. I was just supporting my brother’s team. I wasn’t trolling anyone; I had no bad intentions behind the banter. I wasn’t spreading hate against anyone. I respect every cricketer because my brother is a cricketer.”
Our Take
Shresta Iyer has been constantly receiving hatred for that reel, even though it has been more than a month since the incident happened. She was not the only one who received hatred for the same, some even decided to target her workplace, family, and even the students to whom she teaches. While banter happens between two teams, it should never turn into hatred.
