Reports | Tottenham set to decide between Bruno Fernandes and Giovani Lo Celso

Sky Sports reports that Tottenham will only sign either Bruno Fernandes or Giovani Lo Celso. This is in contrast to earlier reports saying that the North London club was looking to sign both players, amid links to both midfielders with Mauricio Pochettino looking to add a new creative brain.

Although signing Tanguy Ndombele has boosted the Tottenham’s midfield, manager Mauricio Pochettino is still inclined to sign an attack-minded creative midfielder. That is after it was more than evident that Christian Eriksen wants to leave, with the 27-year-old not signing a contract extension. The Danish star is now entering into the final 12 months of his contract and Real Madrid have been linked with a move in the past.

The North London club have already had a £53m bid rejected by Real Betis for Giovani Lo Celso. The Argentine has an £88m release clause in his contract and the La Liga side are unwilling to lower their valuation. Reports have also indicated that having being frustrated by Betis, Spurs have held talks for Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese midfielder has been heavily linked to Manchester United, but also won’t cost as much as Lo Celso. Reports have already indicated that Fernandes’ club Sporting Lisbon are asking for around £70 million and are willing to settle for a little less.

It is highly unlikely that Spurs will go in for both the players. Both of them play in the same position and command a premium fee, that won’t help Pochettino in his goal to improve the team as a whole.
