Manchester United have shortlisted Moussa Dembele as their top replacement for Romelu Lukaku, with the Belgian itching closer to a move to Inter Milan. The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a move all summer and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees Dembele as the perfect alternative.

Manchester United have started to prepare for life without Romelu Lukaku with the Mirror reporting that Moussa Dembele is their top replacement. Sky Sports has further added that while the Red Devils have been linked with a move for Nicolas Pepe, they believe that Dembele who is an out striker would be the better and cheaper fit.

While United are unwilling to sell Lukaku, having already rejected one bid from Inter Milan, they are open to selling him if their £79 million valuations are met for the Belgian striker. That will leave the club with just Marcus Rashford as their lone striker and both Alexis Sanchez and Anthony Martial can play as centre-forwards, but both forwards have struggled to find their best form in recent seasons.

That is a concern for the club and is not a situation that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to have., which is exactly where Moussa Dembele walks in. The 23-year-old only joined Olympique Lyon last summer and finished with 23 goals to his name in all competitions.
