Mauricio Pochettino has once again reiterated that he has no control over Tottenham’s transfer activity and that power lies with club chairman Daniel Levy. Pochettino has dismissed questions directed to him about future signings after going through the entire 2018-19 season without a single signing.

After beating Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Audi Cup 2019, Mauricio Pochettino was questioned regarding any new signings that Tottenham will make to strengthen their squad. To which Pochettino very bluntly suggested that the management should change his job status role from that of a manager to a head coach.

"I am not in charge, I know nothing about the situation of my players," Pochettino said. "I am only coaching them, trying to get the best from them. These types of things, what will happen, what will not happen, selling and buying of players, extending contracts, not extending contracts, I think it is not in my hands. It is in the club hands and Daniel Levy.

At the moment I am managing the team in the best way possible. Maybe the club needs to change my title description because my job now is to coach the team. It is not a question for me, it is a question for the club," Pochettino added. "Maybe the club are going to change my title description. Of course, I am the boss, deciding the strategy to play, training, mentality, philosophy in my area, but in another area, I think I am the coach."

Pochettino's frustration with the way Tottenham conducts its transfer business is becoming an all-too-familiar pattern. The Argentinian however, has assured people he will be "happy with the squad that the club are going to provide to me." Amidst all this, Tottenham has performed comparatively better than its counterparts and heads into the final of the Audi Cup 2019 against a strong Bayern side.
