Bayern Munich chief executive, Karl Heinz Ruumenigge has revealed that he is not happy with manager Niko Kovac’s comments about Leroy Sane. The Manchester City forward has been heavily linked with a move to Bayer Munich and Kovac has been talking about how Sane is the perfect player for the club.

When German news outlet ZDF asked Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac whether signing Leroy Sane was realistic or not, the Croat responded: “We want him and the club is working on it. But I’m confident and assume that we can get him.” These remarks drew the attention of Bayern’s chief executive Karl Heinz Ruumenigge, who when speaking to ZDF clearly mentioned, "I did not like what he said. We have a good relationship with Manchester City and our former coach Pep Guardiola.”

Hassan Salihamidzic, Bayern's sporting director, backed up Rummenigge’s stance on Kovac’s comments. "We are all well-advised not to talk about other players who are under contract with other clubs," Salihamidzic went on to add. "That's why Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said that."

In recent developments, Niko Kovac came out with a public statement regarding the situation.  "We talked about it. Maybe I was too offensive in that interview. I talked to Pep and apologised because of it," Kovac said. "I would like to apologise to the club, too. I will restrain myself in cases like this in the future."

Having been a key player in Manchester City’s 2017-18 season, it was expected that Leroy Sane’s role with the club would continue. But after being omitted from Germany’s 2018 World Cup squad, Sane found it hard to seal a regular starting spot in the 2018-19 season. With both Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery leaving the club, Niko Kovac is on the lookout for lethal wingers as replacements, and whether Leroy Sane will be making a move or not is yet to be soon.
