Christian Pulisic was moved around little bit but versatility is good thing, claims Thomas Tuchel

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel admitted that while he has moved Christian Pulisic to help fill in the gaps, he believes that being good in several positions is always good for a player. The German coach also added that the team has been happy with the impact Pulisic has had and believes he can do well.

Things haven’t quite gone according to plan for Christian Pulisic since he arrived at Chelsea with a change of manager and change of formation affecting his form. However, injuries and a lack of consistent game-time haven’t helped either although the forward has struggled this season as well even when fit. That has been mostly because the American has been shifted around to help Tuchel fill a few holes in the squad, including at wing-back and center-forward.

It has seen the 23-year-old score just thrice across all competitions even if his impact on the field hasn’t quite replicated into goals and assists. Yet, ahead of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg, Thomas Tuchel admitted that he has moved Pulisic all over the field but believes that it’s a good thing if a player is more versatile and can play in several positions. He also added that the club has been happy with the impact the American has made although he can still improve.

"Yes it's true we moved him around a little bit, but in the end they want to play, and it's a good thing if they can play more positions. You can always argue I would have been more consistent or better if I had one clear position, but maybe then you have less minutes or you face even more competition, because up front we have two or three players in every position,” Tuchel said, reported ESPN.

"So first of all it's a good thing, it was also a bad sign because it means we had trouble on the left and right wing-back with injuries and he helped us out there. We are happy with the impact that he has. He can play a lot of minutes, he needs to play a lot of minutes, he has a physical ability that can help us.

"Of course everybody wants him to have numbers, everybody wants him to be effective, and we can improve everybody, we can improve on that. And from there we go, this is the situation."
