India vs England | Injured Bhuvneshwar Kumar likely to miss first three Tests, Jasprit Bumrah returns

After suffering an injury in the T20 series, India had decided to bench Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the first two ODI matches, but the pace spearhead made his return to the team for the third and deciding ODI in Leeds yesterday that India lost by a colossal eight-wicket margin. However, his return was short-lived as he might return home now for not being 100% fit.

On the other hand, contrary to many reports, Jasprit Bumrah, who has been recovering from a broken thumb since the Ireland tour, is named in the squad. But, he can only be available for selection from the second Test subject to fitness. While he is expected to be India’s one of premier pacers alongside experienced campaigner Ishant Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, who was India’s highest wicket-taker in the limited-overs leg of the tour, has been named as the only wrist-spinner in the side that also features the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

While Wriddhiman Saha is still recovering from a thumb injury that he sustained during IPL, Indian selectors took the punt of adding Rishabh Pant in the Test team for the first time. Currently, Pant effected 15 dismissals behind the stumps on the tour and now plying his trade for India A against England Lions in Worcester.
