The character of a person or a team is tested under pressure, and the home side RCB did try to hold their nerve in a virtual quarter-final against CSK. Virat Kohli silencing the CSK chants at the Chinnaswamy did showcase the hosts’ composure as Lockie Ferguson brought them back into the game.

Winning the toss and electing to field first backfired CSK as RCB stockpiled 218 runs in 20 overs, courtesy of a strong start from Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis, followed by a good finish from their middle order. In response, CSK recovered from a rocky start on the back of Ajinkya Rahane and Rachin Ravindra’s fifty-plus stand before a bowling change to bring Ferguson worked in their favour.

On the first ball of the tenth over, Ferguson came over the wicket and bowled a knuckle ball outside the off stump that Rahane tried to loft over the long off region. However, he failed to middle the ball and the ball swirled behind cover where Faf back peddled and ended up taking a brilliant reverse cup. Eventually, a 66 runs stand was broken and it was followed up by Kohli looking towards the CSK chants and shushing them. As the visiting duo were going strong, the CSK fans chants were getting better in Bengaluru before Kohli’s finger on the lip gesture, sparked the Twitterverse.
