Former Barcelona player and the current coach of the Dutch national side Ronald Koeman is reportedly set to replace Quique Setien as the new manager of FC Barcelona. The Blaugrana suffered its heaviest defeats in their history in the Champions League quarter-final last week against Bayern Munich.

It was more than obvious that major roster changes were in due after the 8-2 thrashing suffered by Barcelona against Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals last week. Quique Setien was already under scrutiny and as per reports, former Barcelona player and the current coach of the Netherlands national team, Ronald Koeman is reportedly set to fill in the shoes of the Spanish manager. The club has reached an official agreement to appoint Ronald Koeman as their new manager, but the final confirmation is still awaiting, as reported by the Guardian.

The Dutchman is yet to resign from the national team job, having guided the Oranje’s to a second-place finish in the UEFA Nations League last year. The manager had already turned down the offer from Barcelona back in January when the Catalans were looking for Ernesto Valverde’s replacement, but Koeman did not turn them down this time though.

The former La Liga winner started his managerial stint as an assistant manager with the Netherlands team and then flocked to clubs like Vitesse, Ajax, Benfica, PSV, Valencia and AZ Alkmaar as the head coach. After two small stints Southampton and Everton in the English Premier League, Koeman was given charge of the Dutch national side back in 2018.
