India vs West Indies | Undercooked Bhuvneshwar Kumar India’s only worry, says Gavaskar

India made their way to a comfortable win against Jason Holder & Co. in the fourth ODI at the Brabourne Cricket Stadium in Mumbai to go 2-1 up in the series. Despite Indian captain, Virat Kohli, falling early in the innings, the likes of Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu steered the home team to a comfortable total which the Indian bowlers successfully defended as they bowled out the visitors to secure a massive 224 run victory.

But former Indian Test cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar, in his column for TOI, mentioned that the only flaw in the national team at the moment was an underperforming Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who looked out of place in the recent ODI at the CCI.

"The Windies tried the short-ball strategy against Kohli and though he top-edged one close to the deep fine-leg fielder, the bowlers were never going to trouble him by bowling at 130 kmph. Ambati Rayudu also played magnificently to notch a hundred and cement his place in the team. In the bowling department, Khaleel got the white ball to swing quite nicely but it was the way he got the experienced Samuels that was the highlight. The only worry still is Bhuvneshwar Kumar and he is looking undercooked at the moment. The more he bowls the better it will be," Gavaskar wrote in his column for TOI.

Kumar picked up the wicket of WI opener, Chandrapaul Hemraj, in the fourth game but could not add to that tally as the rest of the bowling department tore their opponents to shreds.

Virat Kohli & Co. will take on the Caribbean outfit in the fifth and final ODI match at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on November 1, after a gap of almost 30 years. India have played only one international match at the newly-built stadium, a T20I against New Zealand at the end of last year. It became the 50th venue in the country to host an international cricket match, as India won by 6 runs to clinch the three-match series.
