‌IPL 2024 | Twitter abuzz as Rohit Sharma’s strategic speech goes in vain with horrendous overthrow

Experience is an underrated trait and it can come in handy when matters get worse. The Mumbai Indians tried to opt for the same against the Jake Fraser-McGurk assault but Rohit Sharma’s intense speech during the timeout seemed to go in vain when their sloppy fielding led to leakage of extra runs.

Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya opted to field first and was taken aback by the charge from the Delhi Capitals openers. Jake Fraser-McGurk was the commander-in-chief, racking up 55 runs in three overs. He continued the assault by racing to a 15-ball fifty, leading up to a 92-run powerplay. This compelled MI to opt for an early strategic timeout after the sixth over where Rohit Sharma was seen giving a speech to his teammates and Hardik Pandya by his side. However, things went wayward for MI with an overthrow coming in the next over.

Hardik backed himself for a second over after the powerplay despite spilling 20 runs in an over. He bowled a good length delivery outside the off stump and the batter pushed it towards mid-off for a quick single. Fraser-McGurk was late to set off for the run and a shy from the inner ring led to an overthrow four as Kishan was late to steam in behind the stumps. With no backup, this eventually led to five runs after already a four and a six in the same over.

Seeing Hardik Pandya unhappy and nodding his head, the Twitterverse came together and fell the same.
