Mohamed Salah is like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, proclaims Sam Allardyce
Former England manager Sam Allardyce has claimed that the way Mohamed Salah plays is a lot like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The Egyptian forward has been in scintillating form for Liverpool and already boasts the best goals-to-game ratio of any Reds forward in the Premier League era.
The former AS Roma and Chelsea star now has four goals in his last three games and that has taken his overall tally for Liverpool to a sensational 84 in 126 appearances since his move from Roma. That tally makes him the best goals-to-game ratio (0.72) of any Liverpool player in the Premier League with 63 league goals in 88 games.
This season, however, has seen the former Chelsea man struggle to hit his same level with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino picking up the slack. But with four goals in three games, it has seen former West Ham and England manager Sam Allardyce claim that Salah needs to be compared in the same way that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are, with the Egpytian a lot like the two football legends.
“Well, the record says ‘yes he is Liverpool’s best-ever Premier League goalscorer. It’s harder to keep that record up the more games you play, so if he stays at Liverpool and continues to score those goals, then yes. He’s that wide-man goalscorer though, isn’t he. He’s not a down-the-middle goalscorer. He’s like Ronaldo. Ronaldo and Messi both score goals but not as a centre-forward, and Mo Salah is the same. So it makes it even more remarkable with the goals Salah has scored from his position,” Allardyce told talkSPORT.
