India vs Bangladesh | Predicted XI for 2nd T20I in Colombo
In the first match of the Nidahas Trophy, Sri Lanka handed India a 5-wicket loss and in Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni's absence, it will be a challenge for Rohit Sharma to secure the team's first win today. However, they may not face much competition against Bangladesh who are without Shakib Al Hasan.
Rohit Sharma - The biggest concern for India has to be their skipper. While he had a brilliant run of form at home, his form dipped in South Africa. He carried that to the match against Sri Lanka and got out for a duck. He will try to end that run today in the match against Bangladesh and will try to lead the team from the front.
Shikhar Dhawan - The Delhi opener is the biggest positive for the team and in the match against Sri Lanka, he showed that and scored a 90-run innings. As Virat Kohli is not a part of the tournament, his performance will again be crucial.
Suresh Raina - While Raina showed glimpses of his potential in the South Africa T20 series and bagged a man of the match award in the third T20I, he failed to do anything spectacular in the first match of the Nidahas Trophy and got out for 1. He can also bowl full quota of overs which makes him a very important part in Rohit Sharma's plans for the series.
Manish Pandey - While Pandey has been scoring runs consistently, he is not being able to score runs at a quick pace. He was successful in scoring 37 runs in the first match but he faced 35 balls to get to his total. Being a top-order batsman, it is important for him to score faster and India will want the same as well.
Rishabh Pant - The Delhi youngster, who has made a comeback to the national team after a long gap, failed to make the opportunity count and took 23 balls to score as many runs for his team. The moment he came to the field, India needed some quick runs, but he struggled to strike the ball since the first delivery. However, Pant is known to be a hard hitter and can prove to be India's main man in the match.
Dinesh Karthik - Being one of the senior most players in the team that lacks star power, Dinesh Karthik will be one of the most important players in the team. He will have the extra responsibility of keeping wickets for India as well and will also help Rohit with DRS.
Washington Sundar - The 18-year-old received his T20I debut cap in the opener of the Nidahas Trophy against Sri Lanka and he tried to prove the selector's decision right by claiming two wickets while conceding 28 runs. Interestingly, Sundar was one of the most economical bowlers in the first T20 game.
Mohammed Siraj - The 23-year-old, who featured in two T20I games for India, was not part of the playing XI for the first game but he may get chance in the second one due to his ability to bowl at the death. Kishan is likely to miss out on the game.
Shardul Thakur - The 26-year-old got a chance to play only one ODI against South Africa where he claimed four wickets while conceding 52 runs in his only ODI game. He also featured in the two T20I games against the Proteas where he grabbed one wicket in each. But the Maharashtra player failed to maintain that consistency against Sri Lanka but he will be looking hoping to reclaim his momentum against Bangladesh.
Jaydev Unadkat - Unadkat became the most expensive Indian player in the IPL auction as Rajasthan Royals picked him up for INR 11.5 crore. The millionaire was lucky enough this year as after the IPL developments he got a place in the squad in the absence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah. The series offers him a good chance to realize his importance to the team.
Yuzvendra Chahal - Chahal will definitely try to utilise his experience of the first game, where he grabbed two Sri Lankan scalps, in the today’s match against Bangladesh. The tournament will give him a chance to prepare for the upcoming IPL tournament.
