Harsha Bhogle picked up a formidable T20 XI of 2016 which features three Indians, three Australians and two players from T20 Champions West Indies. Bhogle surprisingly left out Chris Gayle out of his eleven while picking David Warner to lead the side following the Australian's success in IPL.

Harsha Bhogle's T20 XI of 2016 for Cricbuzz has a combination of four batsmen (that also includes a wicket-keeper), two all-rounders with varying skill sets, two bowlers who can be handy batsmen and three wicket-taking bowlers.

Harsha went with the opening combination of Quinton de Kock and David Warner ahead of Chris Gayle and England's Jos Buttler. Warner leading Sunrisers Hyderabad to the IPL 2016 crown has seen him also being picked as the team's captain.

Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell formed the impeccable middle-order which Harsha chose on the basis of their impressive combination of both average and strike rates which are exceeding 200. When a team has the strength of Kohli's calculated batting, De Villiers' and Maxwell's explosive batting style, it is hard to think of any other batsmen in those positions.

When it came to all-rounders, Harsha went with the West Indian duo of Andre Russell and Dwayne Bravo for their match-winning abilities, particularly their exploits in the World T20.

Harsha has picked Ravichandran Ashwin ahead of Imran Tahir and Samuel Badree -the off-spinner has picked up 23 wickets in 17 T20Is in the past 12 months to make the cut.

Australian leggie Adam Zampa is then followed by Jasprit Bumrah. It would've been justified if South Africa's Kagiso Rabada or Australia's Mitch Starc were picked into the side, but Harsha chose to leave out Starc since the pacer has played just 2 T20Is in the year. The side was complete with Bangladesh's pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman leading the attack.

Though the bowling department looks a bit unconvincing, the rest of the team makes for a formidable line-up.

Harsha Bhogle's Best T20 XI of 2016: Quinton de Kock(WK), David Warner(C), Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo, Ravichandran Ashwin, Adam Zampa, Jasprit Bumrah, Mustafizur Rahman.
