Ahead of their final league game of the Indian Super League against NorthEast United FC, ATK’s interim coach Ashley Westwood has stepped down from his role. The former Bengaluru FC coach has had a terrible run at the Kolkata franchise, losing six and drawing one off last seven matches.

Ashley Westwood said there will be no complacency when newly crowned I-League champions Bengaluru FC take on Mohun Bagan in a game of no consequence at the Kanchenjunga Stadium, in Siliguri, on Saturday. Bengaluru FC had won the title last Sunday after defeating Salgaocar 2-0 in the Garden City.

After winning their second I-League title in three years, Bengaluru FC received a massive blow on Sunday when coach Ashley Westwood said that he might leave the club after the club offered him a wage drop. Westwood’s team won the 2015/16 I-League title after they defeated Salgaocar 2-0 at home.

Ashley Westwood said his team's tryst with continental football last season will hopefully hold them in good stead as Bengaluru FC kick-start their 2016 AFC Cup campaign when they come up against Lao Toyota FC in a Group H opener at the National Stadium, in Vientiane, on Wednesday.
