The Salt Lake Stadium witnessed an emphatic night, as there was no clear winner in the third quarter-final of the Durand Cup 2022 between Mumbai City FC and Chennaiyin FC. It took extra time to find the winner as the two teams went neck-to-neck in ninety minutes, but the Islanders held the edge.

Chennaiyin FC produced a clinical 2-0 victory over NEROCA FC in their final Group C game at Imphal in the Durand Cup to book their place in quarters. Midfielders Anirudh Thapa and Vafa Hakhamaneshi scored in each half to take Chennaiyin FC past the hosts and into the knockout stage.

FC Goa canceled out Bengaluru FC’s two-goal lead in the second half and salvaged a point to end their Durand Cup campaign on a high. Two quick-fire first-half goals from Sunil Chhetri and Sivasakhti put Bengaluru FC ahead only to be negated by strikes from Phrangki Buam and Lesly Rebello.

Mumbai City FC displayed top performance as they put past five against Rajasthan United FC and consolidated their position at the top in their Group B fixture on Monday. The goals came from Greg Stewart (10’), Lallianzuala Chhangte (18’), Mehtab Singh (36’), Ahmed Jahouh (63’), Vikram (90+2’).
