In a statement, Werder Bremen have confirmed that head coach Markus Anfang and his assistant manager Florian Junge have resigned after allegations of a fake COVID-19 vaccination certificate. This comes just days after Anfang’s statement, where he confirmed that he has been vaccinated.

Bundesliga sides Werder Bremen and Wolfsburg became the latest German sides to kneel in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter protests across the world. The duo were the second sides to do it before a match after Borussia Dortmund and Hertha Berlin did the same yesterday in support of the movement.

The Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga are all set for a return on May 15, thus becoming the first of the major European leagues to resume following the Covid-19 lockdown phase. The German government has given the green signal for the leagues to re-start even though the decision might invite controversies.
