Ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, former India pacer Ajit Agarkar has stated that Virat Kohli taking over as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper will help the franchise from spending a huge amount on captaincy candidate. Kohli relinquished his RCB captaincy after the conclusion of IPL 2021.

India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has said that he is looking forward to the challenge of captaincy in the IPL after he was appointed as the captain of the Ahmedabad franchise. Pandya also added that the team is starting from scratch and can create new legacies and culture in the tournament.

The BCCI on Tuesday, January 11 have announced that the Tata group will replace Chinese mobile manufacturer Vivo as the title sponsor of IPL from the upcoming season. In the 2020 season of IPL, the title rights were transferred to Dream 11 due to the rising anti-China sentiment in the country.
