As per the Telegraph, cricket could be set to return to the Olympics after 128 years as the ICC has proposed a 6-team men's and women's tournament for the 2028 games, to be hosted by Los Angeles. The last time cricket was played in the Olympics was in 1900 during the 2nd Olympic Games in Paris.

According to ESPNCricinfo, cricket, along with eight other sports, was shortlisted for review by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for addition to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Cricket is currently being featured at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in the form of Women T20 Internationals.

Virender Sehwag has backed the inclusion of cricket in the Olympic Games and believes that the T10 format will be ideal for the Games. He justified his decision by stating that more nations could play the new shorter format as one bowler or one batsman would be enough for a team to win a game.

Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore has announced that elite athletes preparing for Tokyo Olympics, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games will receive a stipend of Rs 50,000/month to meet their expenses. The government has selected 152 elite athletes under the Target Olympic Podium scheme.
