Velocity and Supernovas will go up against each other on Saturday in the final of the Women's T20 Challenge 2022 at MCA Stadium Pune. The third team – Trailblazers – had registered a 16-run win over Velocity on Thursday, but missed out on the summit clash due to a poor net run rate than the others.

Sri Lankan cricketer Chamari Athapaththu, who scored 48-ball 67, laid the foundation of a big score for Supernovas to help them reach the finals for the third consecutive time, defeating Trailblazers by 2 runs. The spinners did a fine job with Anuja Patil and Radha Yadav bowling economical spells.

Amongst many changes made ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, the BCCI has decided to add one more team for Women’s T20 exhibition matches, making it a total of four teams. The said decision was taken in Monday’s meeting, held between the IPL governing council and the BCCI.

Smriti Mandhana has stated that the best performers in each match of the Women’s T20 Challenge were mostly Indian players. This year was the second edition of the T20 tournament and four matches were played among three teams whereas it was a one match exhibition in its inaugural year of 2018.
