Pakistan Champion beat the West Indies Champion by 20 runs and entered the final of the World Championship of Legends. Younis Khan’s half-century and impactful cameos from the lower order were backed by Sohail Khan’s four-for as the Men in Green beat the Windies by 20 runs in the knockout clash.

West Indies skipper Darren Sammy won the toss and chose to bowl first in the first semi-final of the 2024 World Championship of Legends. The decision paid off handsomely with Jerome Taylor and Fidel Edwards dismissing Sharjeel Khan, Sohaib Maqsood, and Shoaib Malik within the powerplay. Despite the early setbacks, Kamran Akmal and skipper Younis Khan steadied the ship with a 69-run partnership steering the score to 79/3 in ten overs. Younis looked in fine form, reaching a 35-ball fifty. However, Dwayne Smith struck in the 12th over, removing the well-set Akmal. The Windies regained control when Sulieman Benn claimed the crucial wickets of Shahid Afridi and Misbah-ul-Haq in the 13th over, reducing Pakistan to 102/6. Hopes of a significant recovery dwindled for the Asian side but Aamer Yamin (40 off 18) and Sohail Tanvir (33 off 17) had alternate plans. Both played aggressive cameos without any further hiccups, propelling Pakistan to a competitive total of 198/8 in their 20 overs.

In response, West Indies openers Chris Gayle and Dwayne Smith had an unusual start as they got off the mark after eleven balls. However, the duo steered accelerated after early struggles with Chris Gayle smashing a four and a six before falling in the same over to sum up a 35-run powerplay. Wickets kept falling for the West Indies as Chadwick Walton, Smith and Jonathan Carter departed in quick succession. However, Ashley Nurse steadied the West Indies batting 34 off 21 with the scorecard at 131/3 in 16 overs. The equation shifted towards the West Indies when Rayad Emrit smacked 26 runs off the 19th over. With 27 runs needed off the last over, a clinical over by Sohail Khan who picked the wicket of Jerome Taylor and Sulieman Benn. Ultimately, the West Indies were bundled out for 178 runs and Pakistan won the contest by 20 runs and progressed to the finals of he World Championship of Legends.
